Jakob was miraculously healed

Malignant cancer tumor became benign

Jakob Wendesten was miraculously healed as a child and at a age of 15 he chose to give God his very best. Today he lives to tell others about Jesus.

– God gave me life, and now I live that life for God, he says.

Jakob Wendesten is today 23 years old. He grew up in a Christian home in Hono in Gothenburg's archipelago. "I have always had a faith in God. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. He is my Father in Heaven. Jakob was affected by RS virus. As a six year old, Jakob got cancer. He was close to death, but recovered.

Malignant tumor

- I was out swimming on a summer day. My mother noticed that my left muscle by the neck looked bigger. My father thought at first that I'd grew bigger muscles, but mom took me to the hospital for an examination. The doctor took some samples and it turned out to be a malignant cancer tumor. The doctors was going to operate and I was to expect chemotherapy treatment.

- I was so young that I didn't understand how dangerous this was but I knew something was wrong.

After the operation they took new samples of the tumor.

- The samples showed that the tumor now was benign. The doctors became very nervous. They couldn't understand how this was possible that a malignant cancer tumor could become benign.

- An American professor that had looked at the tumor and the samples stated that the samples was completely different, but had no explanation why. He discussed this on a medical congress but nobody could give an answer.

Jakob is convinced that God had his hand in this

- So many people prayed for us during this time and God heard our prayers. My church prayed that the cancer would disappear and that God would heal me, that I would not have to suffer the effects of chemotherapy.

Because the tumor was now benign no chemotherapy was needed. Jakob was declared healthy and was allowed to leave the hospital the following week.

Tough teenage years

Jakob says that he as a teenager not always lived the "Christian life", but that he always kept his faith.

- God gave me life, and I just want to give my life back to Him! In my teenage years it was tough sometimes. I saw new things in the world that seemed to be attractive and I was bullied in school for my faith in God. It was like I put a mask on to live up to something I was not. Sometimes I came home crying when it got to hard on me, but my mother usually told me "what would Jesus have done"?

Jakob says that he belived in God, but that he didn't live for God. He tried to satisfy himself, though the void in him could not be filled with anything else but God.

Two visions

At the age of 15 years old he went to a Christian ski camp

- I saw something very special in the teenagers there. They had something I did not have. They were happy from the inside out. I wanted to be happy like they were. One night at the camp I had a fantastic encounter with God. I cried and cried till there was a puddle on the floor, but it was tears of joy. I felt that I was loved by God. It was if though my sins were cleansed. I realized what God had done for me. From that day forward I gave my 100 perfect to God.

The day after Jakob saw two visions.

- I saw myself around 25 years old in the vision. I stood on a stage in Africa preaching in front of a sea of people. It felt scary in a way, because I was very shy at that time. I also saw a little child and understood it was my future child. It was if though God gave me a future. He gave me a purpose and a goal, and showed me where to go and do with my life. I've always held mission close to my heart and to me it was a confirmation from God, and a push in my back, that I could do what He has called me to do.

Today, parts of the vision has become reality. Jakob have been to Ethiopia six times with Per Akvist and Joshua Campaign. He's preached multiple times to masses of people, and through a trip to Ethiopia he also met his wife Shana.

- On one of the trips to Ethiopia I met a man from America. He thought I would fit well with his daughter, so when he called her on FaceTime, he turned the camera and filmed me without my knowing. Later he started a conversation with me while he filmed was on FaceTime with his daughter. Rest is history.

- We became friends on Facebook and later I flew to the U.S. and met her. When she came to Sweden I proposed and she said yes. We got married 2015 and since then we've lived in Kentucky. I work as an assisting pastor and evangelist, Except all the trips to Ethiopia I've also been to Kenya, India and Haiti. We go to places where Christianity is not widespread, have campaigns and preach the gospel.

Living his dream

Jakob have a passion to talk about Jesus to so many people as possible.

- When I gave my heart to God, something happened on the inside, it explosed inside of me. Jesus has saved, and healed me. It's just too much for me to keep for myself. I have to spread it! Every morning when I wake up, I'm thinking, who can I meet today, who can I help, who can I reach with the gospel? Time is running out and everybody is in need of hearing the message of Jesus our Savior.

Jakob has for many years known that he would live in the U.S. in the future.

- When I was but a child my dad always told me that we all in the future would live in America, so I've always had a dream to live in the U.S. Today, I'm living my dreams, with my wife, my greatest supporter.

- I've been saved from death both physically and spiritually, how can I do anything but to give my life back to God and live the life He gave me, to honor Him?
